Planning the Ceremony

header

Once your freedom to marry is established and you have completed your participation in the programs mandated by the Archdiocese of Miami or the completed file has been received at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton from another parish, you can begin to plan for the actual celebration of marriage.

If you would like a priest or deacon other than St. Elizabeth Ann Seton clergy, the priest or deacon must send a letter to the pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton requesting the delegation mandated by Canon Law to lawfully witness your marriage.

You need to choose the readings for the celebration. A member of the marriage ministry will meet with you to review the options available.  Additionally, when it comes to the exchange of consent or marriage vows, you may also choose from the different options provided in the ritual. You may not, however, write your own.

If you wish to have your marriage videotaped or photographed, you are welcome to hire a professional and they must follow the proper protocol of conducting themselves within the Church property.

Wedding rehearsal
A Wedding Rehearsal is arranged and usually takes place the day before the Wedding Ceremony. The time of the rehearsal is set to accommodate the overall arrangements.

Please be on time for the rehearsal. All participating members of the wedding party should be present, including the bride and groom, maid of honor, bridesmaids, flower girls, best man, groomsmen, ring bearers, lectors, and parents.

Wedding Music
Music will play a very important part in your wedding.  Couples must contact the Director of Music, Mr. Edward Persin at (954)753-3544 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Additionally, the following are the specific guidelines for music for your wedding:

  1. The Organist/Pianist employed by SEAS must be used.
  2. Other musicians (i.e. vocalists, trumpeter, violinist, etc.) may be used to enhance the liturgy, to do instrumental pieces, or to accompany the soloist. The Director of Music will assist the couple in this matter.
  3. Fees for music are to be handled by the bride/groom directly with the Director of Music.
