“The treasure of sacred music is to be preserved and fostered with great care,
and Choirs must be diligently developed.”
The Adult choir sings year-round each Sunday at the 10:00 am Mass.
They also sing at the annual Christmas Concert, Midnight Mass, Easter and Holy Week liturgies, Confirmation, and at other special liturgies and events throughout the year.
As Catholic Music Ministers, your membership in the choir places you in an active leadership role that inspires, renews, and gives life to the people around you.
Keep in mind group participation in any organization requires individual discipline, conscientiousness, and determination. Whether in practice or performance, singing God’s praises and sharing that experience should be a joyful experience. At times, this may challenge us and our abilities. Remember that you are an instrument of God, and through your God-given abilities, you are giving back the best you can with the musical gifts with which you have been blessed.
In times of grief and sorrow, we often turn to music as an expression of our faith.
It can be a great source of comfort and consolation to the living.
Music plays an important role at funeral liturgies. It allows the community to express convictions and feelings that words alone may fail to convey. It has the power to console and uplift the mourners and to strengthen the unity of the assembly in faith and love.
The Resurrection Choir is open to all members of the parish even if you are not a member of the parish choirs. We meet in the Chapel 15 minutes before the liturgy to distribute and review the music that will be sung.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the SEAS Adult Choir or Resurrection Choir, please submit the form below.
The psalmist, or “cantor of the psalm,” proclaims the Psalm after the first reading and leads the assembly in singing its refrain at the 10:00am Mass. The psalmist also intones the Gospel Acclamation.
Persons designated for this ministry would be a member of the Adult Choir who possesses “the ability for singing and a facility in correct pronunciation and diction.” The psalmist should also be able to proclaim the text of the Psalm with clarity, conviction, sensitivity to the text and musical setting, and those who are listening. If you are interested in serving in this aspect of the Adult Choir, speak with the Director.
